3/24/19 Speaker Tim Boland on “The American Oaks – Diversity, Ecology, and Challenges in the Future”
Join Tim Boland as he outlines the diversity of oaks found in North America and locally. Tim will share the story of oak’s evolutionary history and outline the challenges oaks face today. He will also share the Oak Tree of Life Project that traces the evolution and diversification of oaks over time. Oaks throughout the world have a deep connection to humanity and in many societies are revered for their resilience, age, and multiple uses. They are also widely considered the ecological glue that holds plant communities together, but face many challenges in the years ahead. Tim will share his unique personal experiences discovering, and studying oaks in North America and beyond.
